Variegated Rubber Plant

Ficus elastica tineke
£15.50

With its rounded leaves and beautiful variagation, this rubber plant makes a striking addition to any space.

Water your rubber plant when the top of the soil begins to feel dry - the soil should be moist but never sodden, as this can cause root rot. This plant does well in bright indirect light, so keep in a sunny room away from the window. If you want to give your new friend some extra TLC, gently wipe down its leaves when they get dusty.

Plant Bio

Hailing from India and Indonesia, Ficus robusta gets its common name – rubber plant – from the thick latex that it produces, which was historically used to make rubber. Although this practice is long-lost, the catchy name has stuck around.

In the wild this plant can grow to an astounding 60m tall with many aerial roots that grow above the soil. These roots are often so strong that they form trunks that support the tree’s heavy limbs. Your rubber plant won’t grow that tall indoors, but as it’s a climber you can expect it to increase in height so it’s best to give it a bit of extra overhead space.
