How to Keep Plants Alive While on Holiday

Words by Helen
Whilst the British weather might not know it, the summer holidays are here! School is out and thousands are heading off in search of adventure, away from the routine and (hopefully) the rain.
So, you’re all set for a fantastic holiday, but what about your plant babies? No worries, we’ve got your back! Hitting the road doesn’t mean your plants have to suffer so here are some super simple tips to keep your green buddies alive and thriving while you have a well-deserved break.
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

Too cool for school
Whilst you may be in search of sun, your plants probably need the opposite while you’re not there. Move your leafy friends away from those harsh rays and ensure they’re getting indirect light only. This will avoid their leaves being scorched and will allow them to make the most of their water before you arrive home.
All together now
Whilst you’re away enjoying yourself, it’s only fair you let your plants throw a party! Gather your gang and bring them together. They can create their own little plant community, raising humidity levels and making each other feel cozy.
Self-watering magic
If you want some extra peace of mind, get your hands on some self-watering plant pots. These come with a built-in water reservoir that make sure your plant babies can sip water whenever they like and never go thirsty. It’s like hiring a babysitter in the form of a cute plant pot!
Why not get yourself an extra summer treat and pick up one of our LSA glass self-watering pots, in store now.

Enlist a plant-sitter
If you can’t bear the thought of leaving your plants hanging! Call in the reinforcements – a trusty plant-sitter! Reach out to a green-thumbed friend or neighbor and ask them to keep an eye on your leafy friends while you’re away.
Provide a quick rundown of each plant’s watering needs and leave a little “plant care” cheat sheet just in case. Your plants will be in good hands, and you can enjoy your holiday, knowing your plant-sitter has got everything under control.

Alright, plant parents, there you have it! You can head off on your adventures without the worry of returning to poorly plants, and if you come home to a little droopiness, fear not! Just give them a good watering and they should bounce right back.
