Why plants?
Plants add so much more than just a splash of green. They invite the outdoors in, bringing with them a host of mental and physical health benefits.

Cleaner air
It’s a well-known fact that plants release oxygen, but did you know that people need around five litres of oxygen a minute? According to a N.A.S.A. study, plants can remove up to 87% of common air-borne toxins in just 24 hours. Now that’s what we call efficiency.

Improved health
Studies have shown that live indoor planting can reduce common illnesses. By absorbing air-borne toxins, plants can improve minor respiratory conditions and headaches caused by indoor air pollution. Not only that, but plants can reduce symptoms of fatigue, lowering the risk of burnout.

Less stress
Plants have been proven to reduce stress levels, so much so that in Japan doctors frequently prescribe spending time in nature (known as ‘shinrin-yoku’ or ‘forest bathing’) as a treatment for anxiety. Many also find the act of caring for a plant soothing in itself, and take great pride in seeing it grow.

Creative inspiration
Feeling uninspired? Look at your nearest plant. In the course of each day, our brains can become overworked and frazzled. However, research shows that when we look at greenery our brain’s attention circuits are recalibrated, restoring our creativity and improving our focus.
